BIGSOUND announces full program, adds 30 speakers

Former Editor

BIGSOUND has announced its full conference program, adding 30 new speakers including Birthday Party founder and former Bad Seed member Mick Harvey.

Joining Harvey among the new keynote speakers is Spotify’s chief economist Will Page and data journalist Liv Buli from Forbes Magazine and Next Big Sound. Both will unveil and discuss new industry models. The Association of Artist Managers (AAM) will launch their long-awaited music managers’ code of conduct, Peter Noble will deconstruct the success of Bluesfest and longtime friends and business partners Danny Rogers and Jerome Borazio will discuss the growth of St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival.

:: BIGSOUND Programmer Nick O’Byrne discusses 2014 conference

Included in the 37 topics and sessions with BIGSOUND’s 100+ speakers will be: whether heavy metal has the best relationship with its fans; triple j and its place within the Australian media landscape; the importance of community radio; how the music industry will look in the future; the future of Australian hip hop; the battle over country music.

“BIGSOUND is excited to present this program, the first from Nick O’Byrne,” said QMusic Executive Officer Denise Foley. “QMusic is proud to shake up the program and the showcases every once in a while and not lose anything that makes BIGSOUND special. Spring Break is nearly here!”
