Hot 100 This week, everybody’s favourite tongue-wagging, overly-sexualised youngster Miley Cyrus hits #2 with Wrecking Ball: her highest spot ever in our Hot 100. This comes the week her new album Bangerz tops the ARIA Album charts, and Music Week’s album chart. It’s a big week for Cyrus all over the place as she’s currently #1 in the Music Week singles chart and #3 in Billboard Hot 100. Katy Perry’s Roar again remains unwavering in the top spot, no doubt soon to be taken over by Wrecking Ball. Avicii’s Wake Me Up, Jason Derulo’s Talk Dirty and Cedric Gervais’ remix of Lana Del Rey’s Summertime Sadness are number 3, 4, and 5 respectively. Drake’s Hold On We’re Going Home is now sitting in 6th place, after first cracking the top 10 last week. Another week of gains for the man who gave us ‘YOLO’, Drizzy is still riding high in charts across the world. He’s riding the wave of success in the UK also, where he’s at #6, while he sits at #5 in the US of A. Good to see his Australian success finally matches that of the rest of the world, perhaps we’ll see him hit our shores at some stage soon. One Republic continue their top 10 dominance with Counting Stars and Something I Need rocking in at #7 and #9. Apparently we just can’t get enough of these guys. Jessica Mauboy’s new single Pop A Bottle (Fill Me Up) is into the top 10 this week at #8 from #14. She’s no stranger to the top 10 with her previous single To The End Of The Earth making the cut not long ago. Redfoo has moved forward again this week from #13 to #11 after even more airplay – seriously guys…? Sony’s new youngster and X-Factor season 4 export Nathaniel Willemse – better known to wider audiences as just Nathaniel – has entered our Hot 100 at #19. Wow! That’s pretty big news for this guy’s debut single. The increase in airplay is no doubt related to his live performance on the show that gave him his start last week – not that the song needed much help; he was already destined for big things when he took out our Most Added spot a few weeks back. Jason Derulo’s new single Marry Me is up 58 spots this week from #80 to #22 after a huge week of adds and spins. His previous single, with 2Chainz, Talk Dirty is still – as mentioned before – in our top 10. Both singles come from his new album Tattoos which is currently selling well in Australia, sitting at #6 on the ARIA chart up from its debut at #8 last week. Zedd has moved up 8 spots from last week to #21. His song Stay The Night with Hayley Williams follows the success of Clarity, which is still sitting just ahead at #18. British softie, and seasoned provider of ‘songs you don’t want to hear after a breakup’, James Blunt, is also making huge gains this week, up from #60 to #24 due to an appearance on X-Factor and consequential loving from the commercial stations. We know how they love a good love song. Bonfire Heart is the new single from his forthcoming album Moon Landing, out this month on Atlantic Records – here’s hoping for another tearjerker. Avicii’s 3rd single from new album True, Hey Brother has broken into the charts at #31. I don’t think there’s much that needs to be said about this one. Following on from the folk/country dance combo styling of Wake Me Up, it remains to be seen if it’ll be another hit for the young Swede. Current chart topper Katy Perry has a new entry entitled Walking On Air. The second and more ‘EDM’ sounding single from forthcoming album Prism has been making moves upwards since it made our Most Added list a week before official servicing. Perry is scheduled to hit Australia in a few weeks, with TV spots on Sunrise and X-Factor. Let’s see how that affects both sales and airplay. The last new entry in our top 50 comes from local lads Justice Crew; their new single Everybody just scraped in at #48. ARIA Singles Katy Perry spends her 7th week atop the Singles Chart this week with Roar, making it the second longest running #1 single of 2012, behind Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines. The release of Miley Cyrus’ record Bangerz has helped Wrecking Ball back into second position. Redfoo’s Let’s Get Ridiculous is back up to #3, displacing Jessica Mauboy’s Pop A Bottle which drops back to #4. It seems James Blunt’s X-Factor performance of Bonfire Heart didn’t just boost the single at radio, as he’s up 70 places to #5, also propelling previous smash hit You’re Beautiful back into the chart at #91. Lorde’s The Love Club EP has climbed 8 places to #6, and Avicii’s Hey Brother has shot up 79 places this week to #14. As mentioned earlier, Jason Derulo’s Marry Me is up thirteen places from last week to peak at #15, while Internet sensation Ylvis’ The Fox is up to #19. ARIA Albums Miley Cyrus’ Bangerz has become the 24th #1 debut this year in the ARIA Albums Chart and is the first #1 album in ARIA history to feature the word ‘Bang’. Lorde has dropped back to #2 with Pure Heroine, which went Gold this week. Last weeks #2, Haim’s Days Are Gone has dropped to #4, while Jessica Mauboy’s long awaited album Beautiful has hit shelves this past week, and is in at #3 on the charts. This marks Mauboy’s highest charting album in Australia, and her third top 10 album. Melbourne natives Busby Marou have entered the chart at #5. Their new work, entitled Farewell Fitzroy, has far surpassed their previous self-titled album, which debuted at #24 back in 2011. Elsewhere in the top reaches of the charts, Korn have made their tenth debut inside the top 10 with their latest effort The Paradigm Shift.
