Gig Of The Week: Lowrider

Saturday 4 June
The Zoo, QLD

Built on the somehow seamless intertwining of funk, Latin, urban-lounge, hip hop and even indie, Adelaide band Lowrider are kicking off their national headlining tour next month.

Showcasing their sophomore effort Round The World, the quartet have already proven they have a finger in every genre pie, giving James Blunt fans a taste when they supported him earlier this month. The album even features Alicia Key’s legendary chops Horns players from New York; the songstress first shared her players with the band on her 2008 tour of Australia.

Onstage Lowrider are known for their intricate, quick-to-sell-out live shows; from lead singer Joe Braithwaite’s groove-injected magic that swells over keyboardist John Bartlett and bassist Scott Duncan’s arrangements to Paul ‘Mr. C’ Bartlett’s organic percussion that leads his bandmates’ genre crossing. Having already performed well over 1000 gigs leading up to and during the recording of Round The World, Lowrider’s return begins in their hometown before seeing them tour along the East coast.
