Elbow, Matt Corby
Palace Theatre, Melbourne
Elbow have been one of the most respected groups in England for more than a decade, however internationally they have been swamped by the Coldplays of the world; bands that dabble in the same type of earnest and uplifting British balladry and rock without any of the restlessness and genre-hopping that makes Elbow such a great live experience.
If you are yet to check them out, consider this the perfect introductory show.
Matt Corby is quite a revelation too; an amazing Buckley-esque voice and plaintive, sorrowful ballads make him an unlikely but perfectly suited support act.
