Emerging Aussie hip hop artist - 1/6

Hip Hop artist 1/6 wins Hilltop Hoods initiative

01 April 2010

Up and coming hip hop artist 1/6 (Aaron Stephanus) has taken home a $10,000 cheque, and received a huge kick start to his career in music. Born in Australia but raised in Namibia, 1/6 is an African-Australian who is emerging as one of Aussie hip hop's freshest talents.

As the recently announced winner of the Hilltop Hoods Initiative, he's sure to see success with the support of both Hilltop Hoods and APRA, and his prize includes legal advice and a coveted performance spot at the 2010 Song Summit.

MC Suffa of the Hilltop Hoods said: "Thanks to APRA and our superstar judges Hau, Raph, Nish and Ran-Dee. Congratulations to 1/6, he's a very deserving recipient."

"We are very pleased to have partnered with Hilltop Hoods on this initiative," said Sally Howland, APRA|AMCOS Director of Member Services. "It is grants such as this that give emerging artists a real opportunity to advance their careers."
