Katy Perry's new single California Gurls surfaced online over the weekend, taking fans, radio and even her Australian label EMI by surprise. It seems someone at her US label Capitol gave it the green light but forgot to tell everyone else.

Produced by Dr Luke, Max Martin and Benny Blanco, the sunny pop tune – which features a cameo by Snoop Dogg – is currently streaming from katyperry.com.

It's the first taste of her new album Teenage Dream, due out August 27th.
