In a further sign of music/gaming synergy, Linkin Park have teased their forthcoming first single The Catalyst in a new trailer for the Medal of Honour video game.
The song, the first from their fourth album A Thousand Suns, is released on August 2 (US time, about 2am Australian time), but fans can hear it for the first time in the trailer below.
The website (medalofhonor.com/linkinpark) for the game, out October 12, shows the trailer and also prompts fans to pre-order A Thousand Suns.
Interestingly, the trailer uses the ballad-like bridge of the song. TMN heard the full song today and unlike their last album, which was touted as a stylistic departure, The Catalyst actually is. The apocalyptic track features almost-trance-like synths and booming electronic drums – check out another Youtube preview. Not surprisingly, heated debate over the new direction amongst fans has already ignited.
