by Jason Treuen

Hilltop HoodsState of the Art album has now gone double platinum (sales over 140,000 units) exactly fourteen months after the day of its release.

It’s a first for an Australian hip hop act and caps off an impressive series of accolades for their fifth album including a two weeks at #1 on the ARIA charts on release, ARIA Awards for Best Urban Release and Best Engineer, an APRA award for Urban Work of the Year, single Still Standing going gold and first single Chase That Feeling going platinum.

It follows a huge week for Australian hip hop after contemporaries Bliss N Eso debuted at #1 on the ARIA Album charts with fourth album Running On Air (read about their celebrations).

The Hoods’ next release will be a little different, with plans to release their own zombie film, which they wrote, made and starred in. Due out around Halloween (October 31), it’s entitled Parade of the Dead and takes its name from a track that appears on State of the Art.
