Julia Stone, one half of recent TMN cover stars Angus and Julia Stone, has told TMN exclusively her forthcoming solo album will be entitled The Memory Machine.
Last month, the the 25-year-old singer revealed she planned to sell the album at shows on their Australian tour, which kicks off tomorrow night at Newcastle's Civic Theatre. However, there's no word yet that this will happen.
Stone wrote and recorded ten solo songs late last year while living in New York. The Memory Machine is a track from the record, as is Winter on the Weekend, which was also considered as a title for the album. Hold On, the opening track and current single from Angus and Julia’s latest album Down the Way (which went #1 on the ARIA Albums chart in March), was originally slated for inclusion too.
Another solo track This Love recently featured on the soundtrack for the film The Waiting City, starring Joel Edgerton and Rhada Mitchell.
Discussing the tone of the solo material, Stone told TMN: "There’s one song where I sing about horror movies, but most of the tracks are edging on something. I think I was in a really dark space when I wrote it so it's a little evil record. It’s not angry, just spooky.”
