Short Stack confirm 'batty' new album for November 19

24 August 2010

Short Stack have confirmed their new album is called This Is Bat Country and will be released November 19, a date now confirmed by their label Universal.

In a post on his personal site, singer Shaun Diviney explains the title is a quote from Hunter S. Thompson’s tripped-out tome Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and describes the new material as “music for the end of the world.”

The pop-punk trio’s new single Planets hit radio last week, but is expected to debut in the TMN Hot 100 Airplay Chart next week after recent adds to the Today Network’s Hot30, The Hit List and Nova nights.

Diviney goes on to explain that the album – the follow-up to last year’s chart-topping Stack is the New Black - will explore themes of “chaos, rebelion and especially that of the vicious journey into the heart of the ‘American dream.’”

He adds: “The main difference from writing the last album to writing this album is people are listening now, so i feel i have a message to give. Night after night, I found myself playing to thousands of people, just like me, living in small towns. Basically I wanted to say you guys can do ANYTHING, and we are living proof of that.”
