After more than twenty years in the business, Powderfinger have finally got their own private jet. Well, sort of.
Yesterday the band travelled to Williamstown airbase outside of Newcastle to officially unveil ‘Fingerbird 1’ (as the band have dubbed it), an Airbus A320 specially painted by tour sponsors Jetstar plane to commemorate their Sunsets farewell tour that kicks off tomorrow night in Newcastle.
The band have also announced 25-year-old Shaun Malseed as the winner of their Follow The Finger competition. As of tomorrow, he becomes the band’s official video blogger/reviewer/tweeter for their 21 shows around the country. We wonder if he's seen Almost Famous...
The tour kicks off at Newcastle’s Entertainment Centre tomorrow and TMN will be there to bring you a review and photos.
In other Powderfinger news, the band have announced they'll be selling recordings of each live gig after the sho. They've teamed up with the team at Abbey Rd Studios (who did the same thing for the Pixies in March) and will also sell the live CDs/digital files on their official website.
