Stonefield score Glastonbury

13 October 2010

by Christie Eliezer

Melbourne rock band Stonefield, one of the buzz bands at One Movement For Music Perth, have been invited to play the Glastonbury Festival in the UK next year.

The all-sister outfit first impressed One Movement delegates at a triple J concert, and then again at an October 9 showcase at the Breakthrough Big Top which drew 2,000.

Immediately after, Glastonbury booker Martin Elbourne offered them a slot at his festival, telling Stonefield they’d be perfect for England.

Stonefield are made up of the Findlay sisters aged between 12 to 20 — Amy (drums, vocals), Hannah (guitar), Sarah (keys), and Holly (bass). Amy Findlay tells TMN, “Our influences are Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa.” Earlier this year they won triple J’s Unearthed High and had two singles Foreign Lover and Through the Clover played on the network. This month Stonefield signed with Shock Records to release their debut EP in November, and with Paul Gildea Artist Management for representation.

On the weekend they shot a video for Through The Clover opposite their parents’ farm in country Victoria. The songs chief lyricist Amy says, “just because things are, doesn’t mean they should be.”
