They may not speak Americano, but Yolando B Cool and DCUP certainly know how to conquer the States, with their worldwide smash hit We No Speak Americano officially going Gold in the US last week, with more than half a million units sold. Considering the amount of airplay the track is currently receiving there, it could be on its way to a platinum accreditation.
Producer DCUP is, not surprisingly, very happy with the results. He told TMN: "We are stoked with that the USA loves us like the rest of the world, although we must thank the Jersey Shore boys specifically."
In September, the guys from Jersey Shore uploaded a video of them dancing to the song in their bedroom to Youtube. It's since been watched 3.2 million times.
DCUP wasn’t kidding when he referred to the worldwide infatuation with the track. The song has been certified Gold in UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, and Romania, and Platinum in Holland and Belgium. Also, despite not reaching Gold status there, the track has reached #1 in Columbia (for 10 weeks), Peru, Brazil, Argentina and #2 in Mexico.
