US pop superpower Katy Perry has been announced as the opening act for this year’s Logie Awards.
The singer, who will be in the country for her sold out California Dreams tour, will perform her uplifting (double-platinum) hit Firework at the event at Melbourne’s Crown Casino complex on May 1.

“Katy will have the whole room on their feet dancing! We’re thrilled that she is opening our show,” TV Week Editor Emma Nolan said in the official press release.
Violin superstar André Rieu is also scheduled to make a special appearance on the red carpet. Despite rumours, there's no official word on whether visiting teen sensation Justin Bieber will also appear.
Last year, John Mayer, KD Lang, Rogue Traders, Gabriella Cilmi and the cast of the Fame musical performed at the Awards, while Susan Boyle pulled out.
The event will be hosted by comedian Shane Bourne. Organisers have also revealed the full list of presenters, which include radio comedy duos Hamish Blake and Andy Lee and Roy Slaven and HG Nelson plus Summer Heights High creator/star Chris Lilley and TV host/ Gold Logie nominee Adam Hills.
Adrian Dellevergin, Executive Producer of the TV Week Logie Awards, said: “We are thrilled with the calibre of presenters at the Logies this year, which includes the best of Australia’s television talent. We are also very excited to have Katy Perry performing, which promises to be a show-stopping performance.”
