The track is top five on iTunes Australia, number one globally on the Hype Machine charts and just took third prize in the acclaimed Vanda and Young Songwriting competition. And now, Ashton Kutcher is telling his 7-million-strong fanbase about it via Twitter.

Gotye's Somebody That I Used To Know has received unprecedented interest so far, and it is only set to increase in the following weeks.

The video clip has amassed over 200,000 views in the two weeks since it was made available online, largely due to word-of-mouth. Now that Kutcher has hopped on board (describing the video as "kinda fantastic"), and the track has been serviced to commercial radio, Somebody That I Used To Know will undoubtedly be the Melbourne artist's most successful release to date.

John Watson, who co-manages Gotye with Danny Rogers (Gotye's music is released on his own label, Samples'n'Seconds, under license to Eleven: a music company) says that everyone involved with the project is extremely pleased by the impact the track has had so far, telling TMN: "We've never seen any song make a deeper or more immediate connection with so many people. It's a really special recording and video."

Somebody That I Used To Know is the second single from Gotye's forthcoming third full-length record Making Mirrors, set for an August 21 release.
