A biopic of late AC/DC frontman Bon Scott has been given the go ahead from the Australian government.

According to Blabbermouth.net, federal development and film-funding organisation, Screen Australia has offered financial support to the Eddie Martin-directed film.

Martin, along with producer Lizzette Atkins have had the biopic in the works since 2008, enlisting the help of the singer's family and friends to piece together moments from his life. Now, with the backing from Screen Australia, the film has been given the much needed push.

Melbourne singer Nick Barker played the lead in a musical stage production of Scott's life titled Hell Ain’t A Bad Place To Be – The Story Of Bon Scott. The production ran for two weeks earlier this month at Melborne's Athenaeum Theatre One.

Scott died in 1980 at the age of 33 of "acute alcohol poisoning" in the backseat of friend Alisdear Kinnear's car in London. He had fronted AC/DC for six years.

AC/DC's multi-Platinum selling album, Back In Black recently came in at #4 on Triple J's public voted Hottest 100 Albums Of All Time poll.
