“God just dealt me a new hand today a reaaaaaaaaaaalllly good hand... I am now officially signed to Universal Music.” Azealia Banks took to Twitter earlier today to announce that she has moved on to bigger and better things.
The young and feisty 20-year-old Harlem rapper, previously signed to XL Recordings as Miss Bank$, has made the switch to the major label and is working hard with Paul Epworth on an upcoming debut album set to be released sometime this year.
Her music video for 212 saw over 2.5 million hits on YouTube merely paving the path for what the public can expect from Banks now that she is signed to Universal Music.
Recently collaborating with Lady Gaga’s stylist Nicola Formichetti for a video shoot of Licorice, joining forces with Machinedrum, and glam-pop group the Scissor Sisters and making an appearance at Coachella in April, Banks clearly has her ambition grounded and her mind set on an ‘in your face’ career.
