Nickelback are fed up with being the laughing stock of the modern rock world and have personally rebutted the sea of insults made towards them on Twitter.
The band recently received a tweet that said: "Was driving down the street, and a @Nickelback song came on. I had an aneurism and violently shit myself at the same time. And my dog died." To this Nickelback smarmily replied: “I bet it was the best day you've had in awhile. #yourwelcome."
Another heckler chimed into the online conversation with: “Hey @Nickelback, time to be done with music.you ruin my day when I hear your music. #retire.” The band was quick on its feet with amusing comebacks: "@corymyoung we thought about it. But how else could we cause you so much torment? So worth it. A lifetime of tunes just for you.”

This isn’t the first time the lads of Nickelback have defended themselves against their critics. The Twitter war of words follows the band’s response to The Black Keys’ drummer Patrick Carney who blamed Nickelback for the death of rock’n’roll.
"Rock'n'roll is dying because people became OK with Nickelback being the biggest band in the world,” Carney told Rolling Stone early this month. “So they became OK with the idea that the biggest rock band in the world is always going to be shit - therefore you should never try to be the biggest rock band in the world. Fuck that,"
Nickelback facetiously replied via Twitter saying: “Thanks to the drummer in The Black Keys calling us the Biggest Band in the World in Rolling Stone. Hehe.”
Looks like an even score.
