Lana Del Rey has bought the album rights to her 2010 independent album with plans to re-release it.
Recorded in 2008, Lizzy Grant aka Lana Del Rey was recorded under her real name Elizabeth Grant with producer David Kahne and cost the singer $10,000. Unfortunately the debut lacked a cash injection from Stranger Records and never saw a commercial release.
The record was instead placed on iTunes for two months and is now available on various YouTube channels and through her former band’s Reverbnation page under the moniker Lizzy Grant and the Phenomena (how prescient).
“People act like it's so shrouded in mystery, the 'forgotten terrible album,'” she told BBC. “But if you look on YouTube, all 13 tracks are available with millions of views, so it's not like no-one's heard them. We were all proud of it. It's pretty good."
Release details are yet to be confirmed with the 25-year-old telling BBC she’ll release it "maybe in late summer." Her major label debut Born To Die is set for release on February 3 through Interscope/Universal.
