Jack White offers first taste of debut solo album

31 January 2012

by Shannon Andreucci

Almost a year since the seminal alt-rock band White Stripes officially called it quits, Jack White has announced the release of his long-awaited debut solo album.

Entitled Blunderbuss, the record is due out April 24 and was produced and recorded by White in his Third Man Studio in Nashville.

It will be his first release since the White Stripes’ mournful split, which the pioneering duo (featuring Jack’s former wife Meg White) announced last year on February 2.

Since then, White has busied himself with an endless list of musical side projects and collaborations including; The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather, Stephen Colbert, Insane Clown Posse and most recently Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi.

Of the new LP, Jack White said it’s "an album I couldn't have released until now. I've put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name.

“These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colors [sic] on my own canvas."

The first single off Blunderbuss is titled Love Interruption and a sneak preview of the low-key number follows below.
