Fearing for her safety, Kylie Minogue has turned to the police for help after receiving threatening messages from a crazed stalker via Twitter.
The 43-year-old pop princess recently posted on her social media page: "I love 1,033,861 of you LOVERS, but 1 is not a lover, just a deluded weirdo making threats #andthatdoesnotmakeyouspecial SO..police alerted."
Although specific details of the threats have not been revealed by Minogue’s spokespeople, British paper The Mirror reported the cyber harasser "threatened to perform graphic sex acts on her and even kill her.”
Unfortunately, this is not the first time the Australian songstress - who is celebrating her silver jubilee in showbiz - has had a sinister encounter with deranged admirers. In 2010, an unidentified stalker was allegedly and frequently seen wandering the streets of Kylie’s parent’s home with flowers and an engagement ring in hand. And back in 2003, she called in the police after being inundated with over 700 threatening letters from yet another unstable follower.
In response to the recent harassment, an outpouring of support has appeared on the former soap star’s Twitter page, with one follower writing: "Whoever the wierdo is I hope he (I assume its a he) gets what he deserves. Leave Kylie alone. (sic)"
Another loyal fan added: "1,033,861 are now looking for the 1 deluded weirdo. We got your back. Stay sparkly:)x"
In the meantime, Kylie Minogue is preparing for her highly-anticipated appearance at Sydney’s Mardi Gras this March as well as the re-recording of some of her all time hit numbers to commemorate her 25th anniversary in the music industry.
