Nick Oliveri reunites with Queens Of The Stone Age

29 November 2012

When it was announced earlier this month that Dave Grohl would reunite with Queens Of The Stone Age, fans were elated, but not surprised. However, the announcement last night that the band’s former bassist Nick Oliveri – who was arrested last July, and avoided a fifteen-year jail sentence for domestic violence, gun and narcotic charges – has returned to the fold, is sure to raise a few more eyebrows.

Reported by Stereogum who saw the announcement on the Facebook page of Oliveri project Mondo Generator, the news comes eight years after frontman Josh Homme allegedly fired Oliveri for physically abusing his partner.

The yet-to-be-named QOTSA album marks their sixth release, but since drummer Joey Castillo’s departure this year, it will be their second with Grohl, who drummed on the band’s breakout album Songs For The Deaf in 2002.

Trent Reznor also revealed during a Reddit Q’n’A that he’ll make an appearance on one track. The album is expected to drop before June 2013 when the band perform UK’s Download Festival.
