In Court
West Australian prosecutors have appealed a decision by a magistrate last month to acquit video maker Simon Charles Barker over a rap video that had indigenous leaders up in arms. Barker posted the video for Flubba Wubba Jubba Noongar with two men in blackface and Afro wigs. The magistrate agreed with Barker’s claim it was a piece of art that lampoon white prejudices against indigenous people and was not malicious. The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions wants Barker to prove the video was a piece of art.
