In light of the government’s current investigation into scalping, online ticket vendor Moshtix today launched its own survey to gather feedback from concert goers and promoters on the issue.
Do the Moshtix survey: consumer version / promoter version
Earlier this month, the Commonwealth Consumer Affairs Advisory Council (CCAAC) announced it would launch a review into the secondary ticket market and called for submissions from industry and the public. The closing date for submissions is Friday July 23.
According to Moshtix GM Adam McArthur, the new online survey “is an opportunity for fans to have their voice heard and let us know how they feel about the issue. It gives us solid facts from those directly affected by scalping.”
The five-minute survey will remain open until July 9 with Moshtix giving respondents the chance to win $250 worth of Moshtix tickets for their feedback. Moshtix will then collate the survey responses and include them as part of their submission to CCAAC on the matter.
“We hope that by including opinion and input from fans, the Government will take appropriate action against scalpers that would minimise this sort of activity in the market,” McArthur said.
And despite the lack of government action on the issue in the past, he says it’s not necessarily “an uphill battle."
“There are many companies in the industry who - like us at Moshtix - have implemented appropriate processes to minimise ticket scalping. Splendour, Good Vibes and Fuzzy are a great example of this. I do believe though that other major players in the industry, who haven’t yet taken enough responsibility to reduce this activity, need to do more. I think if key industry players really come together and provide thorough, relevant submissions outlining the damaging effects scalping has on the industry, then the Government will take the appropriate action.”
Check out the CCAAC website for more details on the government review.
