Major Label signs three new acts to 'single only' deal

23 July 2010

General Pants Co. have signed three Australian independent acts to a ‘single only’ deal with their record company Major Label.

The new signings include Sydney post surf-rockers Step-Panther who recently opened the Come Together Festival at Luna Park after being hand picked by Triple J’s Home and Hosed.

Melbourne band The Kremlin Succession have also been signed. After forming just six months ago the garage/ psych rockers have already supported the likes of indie pop bands Money For Rope and The Swiftones as well as being made finalists in Melbourne’s Community Cup Free Kick competition.

The final act to be signed to the label is 17-year-old student Harry Ward. His solo effort The Harry Hart Chrysalis is said to be influenced by Wolf Parade and Bon Iver. Reining from Bundaberg, Queensland the indie pop teen is also the singer/guitarist of Arcade Made and the drummer of Penguin Kings.

Todd Wagstaff, general manager of Major Label says this signing will provide the opportunity for the three acts to take the next step forward in their careers.

“Major Label capitalises on online trends and local word of mouth to discover and give a leg up to unsigned Australian bands and these three new young acts are our most diverse signings to date” said Wagstaff.
