Warner Music shake-up in the U.S.

16 September 2010

Just a week after Warner Music Australia saw the sudden departure of CEO/Chairman Ed St John, Warner Brothers Recordings in the US has undergone its own shake-up.

Chairman and CEO Tom Whalley leaves the Warner Music Group after nine years, although a statement released by WMG states no obvious reason for his departure.

Also to step down is Chief Operating Officer of Warner Bros. Records and President of Reprise Records, Diarmuid Quinn.

Stepping in to take Whalley’s position is current Chief Creative Officer Rob Cavallo. Cavallo was awarded the Producer of the Year Grammy in 1998 bringing his total to six Grammy awards as well as an Oscar and a Golden Globe.

Taking over as CEO of the company will be current Executive Vice President, Todd Moscowitz who joined Warner last year.

Last to be reshuffled is Executive Vice President and General Manager of Warner Music’s Atlantic Records, Livia Tortella who will now serve as Co-President and Chief Operating Officer to the company.

Warner Brothers recording’s remains administered by WMG’s Vice Chairman and CEO, Lyor Cohen who oversees America and the UK.
