Confirming rumours that have been around for weeks, Warner Music Australia (WMA) have today announced Tony Harlow as their new Managing Director.
Reporting to Lachie Rutherford, CEO Warner Music Asia Pacific, Harlow returns from the UK to assume the position this month. The role includes responsibility for WMA and its divisions, including artist services company Peppermint Blue. Warner Music New Zealand GM Phil Howling will also report to Harlow.
Rutherford said: “Tony enjoys a well-deserved reputation in the Australian industry as a smart businessman with real entrepreneurial drive and creative talent management skills. He maintains strong relationships with artist managers and key media and I am confident he is the right leader for our hard-working, talented and dynamic team in Australasia.”
Harlow commented: “I’m delighted to get another opportunity to work in a country I love. Australia has a rich musical heritage, and I hope to be able to add something to it. The chance to work within Warner Music Group, with Warner Music Australia and the team there, and particularly with Lachie again, is one anyone would travel 14 thousand miles for!”
Harlow arrives at a critical time for Warner Music Australia. He fills the void left by the departure of CEO/President Ed St John, who left the company suddenly at the start of September. Vice-President of Marketing Mark Ashbridge followed a fortnight later, a week after the company made nine employees redundant in a major reshuffle.
