Short Stack score on a Top 5 debut on the ARIA Singles chart, Linkin Park hold onto top album and a battle for #1 on the TMN Hot 100 Airplay Chart make for an interesting week in charts.
As we predicted last week, Taio Cruz has dethroned Katy Perry to take the top spot on the chart, landing his first ever Hot 100 #1 for Dynamite. Katy didn’t drop too far though, sliding to #3, just behind second placers Kings Of Leon who edge closer to #1 each week. With the momentum increasing for the Kings, the question arises as to whether or not Taio can hold them off for a potential stay of multiple weeks at #1.
The fast moving Zoe Badwi and Adam Lambert jumping to #17 (from #32) and #18 (from #35) respectively should shake up the top of the chart in the coming weeks. Following her highest debuting position ever last week (#47), Jessica Mauboy continues to inch closer to a single digit position with Get ‘Em Girls leaping twenty-two spots into the Top 30 at #25 this week whilst Train have also made a significant jump, moving a whopping 50 places to #44.
Two Aussie acts, Short Stack and Philadelphia Grand Jury have both had stellar weeks with both earning heir highest ever positions on the Hot 100 each. Short Stack’s Planets entered at #75 and The Philly Jays debuted at #79 with Save Our Town.
Two weeks in means two weeks at #1 for Rihanna's Only Girl (In The World), while the track hovers at #8 on the TMN Hot 100 Airplay Chart. Taio Cruz' Dynamite sits at #2 after being ousted by Rihanna last week.
Six weeks in and a new highest position for Bruno Mars. Just The Way You Are resides at #3 this week, up from #5. In at #4, the highest debut for the week is Short Stack's Planets. The fanatical followers of The Stack have come through again with some impressive results. Upwards of 8000 pre-orders.
To round out the Top 5, B.o.B's Magic, featuring Rivers Cuomo has show up from #11 or #5 in its seventh week on the ARIA Singles chart.
Finally debuting in sales, Duck Sauce's Barbra Streisand has entered the ARIA Singles chart at #12, following some reasonable success with airplay (reaching #43 this week on the TMN Hot 100 Airplay Chart).
Linkin Park have managed another week at #1, with A Thousand Suns selling 6351 copies. That's approximately 2000 untis ahead of Katy Perry's Teenage Dream (4406 units), again at #2. The rest of the Top 5 also remained stationary. Kasey Chambers' Little Bird (4181 copies) came in at #3, just beating Eminem's Recovery at #4 (3968 copies) and Santana remained at #5 with Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics Of All Time (3871 copies).
Mark Ronson & The Business Intl. entered the ARIA Albums chart at #6 with Record Collection and 3725 units sold, not too far behind Santana. Other debuts for the week included Sound Garden's Telephantasm which sold 1541 units, entering at #20. Eric Clapton's Clapton entered one position below at #21.
After debuting at #17 last week, Metallica's Six Feet Down Under charged up to #12 with close to 2200 sales, up approximately 200 units on last week's figures.
