Radio Ratings Survey 5

09 August 2011

Radio's fifth book of metropolitan ratings for 2011 has landed, with some big results across the country, particularly in Brisbane.

There is a new leader in Brisbane. For the very first time, ARN's 97.3FM has increased 0.4 to 12.6 in their overall share to overthrow Austereo's B105, which fell -0.6 to 11.9. Triple M also fell -0.3 to 10.4, while Nova 106.9 climbed 0.3 to 11.1. 4KQ has also seen a boost for ARN, growing 1.1 in overall share, to 8.0.

In other states, ARN also faired well. Adelaide's Mix 102.3 held onto the top spot, pulling in another 1.9 overall to reach 15.3, with a boost of 1.4 in Breakfast.

Duncan Campbell, ARN National Content Director told TMN: "Today is a another positive set of results for ARN, particularly in Brisbane where we are number one overall and in Adelaide where we are again number one FM, placing us ahead of Austereo and DMG for the first time in both markets."

In Adelaide, Nova didn't see the same growth they found in Brisbane, with only their Afternoons staying steady. Overall Nova 91.9 dropped -0.4 to 8.0. Triple M also fell, -0.2 to 9.1.

In Sydney, the battle between Mix 106.5 and Nova 96.9 has panned out in Nova's favour, seeing a jump 0.7 from 5.8 to 6.5, while Mix fell from 5.8 down to 5.2. 2DAY has held strong, as per usual.

Guy Dobson, Southern Cross Austereo's Director of Metro Radio told TMN: "2Day FM in Sydney remains the clear leader with number one 10+, breakfast with Kyle & Jackie O, workdays and drive…"

Melbourne's Fox FM stayed strong in this book. Seeing an overall jump of 0.2 to 11.4, it's a clear market leader. In Breakfast, Fox jumped 0.5 to 10.7, with mornings up further, to 0.8 to 9.4. Dobson was pleased with the results, stating: "Fox FM is a standout with increases in 10+ figure, breakfast, workday and drive figures."

In Perth, Austereo saw some slight drops, but still hold the number one position with Mix 94.5, which fell -0.2 to 15.1. 92.9 dropped -0.3 to 11.2, while Nova 93.7 grew 2.0 to overtake 92.9 with their share of 11.7.
