Garbage to release album through own new label

24 January 2012

by Shannon Andreucci

Garbage have just announced the launch of their very own record label, STUNVOLUME.

The Scottish-American quartet are set to self-release a fifth studio album later this year; the album was recorded in a Californian basement and produced by the band. It will be released in partnership with Liberator Music and Ausralia's own Mushroom Group.

It’s been seven years since Garbage has released a record, the most recent being 2005’s Bleed Like Me, which earned the band gold status and a #4 placing on the ARIA chart.

The initial success of the striking female-fronted group however, was sparked in 1995 with their self-titled debut album, which spawned the hit singles Stupid Girl and Only Happy When It Rains. It was certified double platinum in Australia, UK and US and earned the band the Breakthrough Artist Award at the 1996 MTV Europe Music Awards.

Garbage is Shirley Manson (vocals), Steve Marker (guitars, keyboards), Duke Erikson (guitars, keyboards) and Butch Vig (drums, loops) and together the quartet plan to embark on a worldwide tour in support of their new release.
