Bruno Mars’ Just The Way You Are has been revealed as the biggest-selling digital single of 2011, having sold over 12 million copies worldwide.
The 26-year-old singer-songwriter also took second and 10th places respectively on the list with Grenade and The Lazy Song, according to sales figures released by The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).
The annual digital music report also revealed Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO placed third, with On The Floor by Jennifer Lopez and Adele’s Rolling In The Deep completing the top five.
Rapper Pitbull – real name Armando Christian Pérez – was the only artist other than Bruno Mars to score two appearances in the top 10, with his cameo in On The Floor and his own track Give Me Everything taking seventh place.
Sales statistics also indicated that individual track downloads increased by 11% last year, while album downloads were boosted by 24%.
The amount of people happily paying for digital music subscriptions through services such as Spotify also shot up by an impressive 65% to a total of 13.4 million.
