The Australian Music Prize (AMP) has jazzed up its winner’s event at the Sydney Opera House on Thursday March 8.
This year there will also be a sit-down lunch forum called Amped Up In Conversation. David Fricke from the American Rolling Stone will deliver a keynote address on the state of the Australian music industry.
Fricke, renowned for breaking new acts to readers, has been enthusiastically covering Australian music since the 1980s. His speech will be followed by a hopefully lively discussion by attendees on the health of this scene.
The event is made possible by the PPCA (Phonographic Performance Company of Australia) which administers licenses on behalf of record labels (and also provides the $30,000 prize money for the AMP winner) and the Opera House. The AMP short list is announced on Thursday February 2.
