The co-founder of recently shut down file-sharing website, Megaupload is readying his first studio album.
Kim Dotcom (born Kim Schmitz) was accused of a US$500 million breach of Internet copyright laws and arrested in his $30 million Auckland mansion last Friday (January 20). The 6’6” German billionaire is currently in custody in the New Zealand city until February 22 when his extradition papers will be filed.
Despite being remanded in custody, Dotcom now seeks to join the likes of Lil Wayne and co-ordinate the release of a full-length behind bars. He was arrested holding a shotgun last week and his Megaupload Mega Song has enough cameos from renowned artists like Kanye West and Chris Brown (as well as an appearance from Dotcom himself) to warrant enough stimulus.
In fact, the production team behind the YouTube viral video, Beets & Produce and Printz Board are supporting the upcoming release. The producers have previously worked with Mariah Carey, Black Eyed Peas and Eric Clapton. Joseph "Papo" Besson, (Beets & Produce VP of operations) told MTV Hive:
“It is a phenomenal project. Printz Board is producing this project with Kim. I am coordinating the logistics of the release, as well as consulting on the artwork.
“Printz Board is executing the vision that Kim has for this project to the letter. Kim is also pushing the limits with this project. He has some huge surprises for everyone. The mix of a musical genius in Printz and an actual genius in Kim Dotcom will be history in the making, I’m sure of it.”
Catch Dotcom's cameo in his Megaupload video two minutes in here.
