Music Publisher Kobalt has announced an expansion that places them under an revolutionised class of self-oriented music companies at a global level.
Kobalt Music Group Ltd. has launched two new divisions that cover artist and label services, digital distribution and neighbouring rights. The new Artist and Label Services division is powered by the company's recent purchase of Sheffield-based digital distributor AWAL (Artists Without A Label) and will be led by Paul Hitchman, who has previously co-founded Playlouder, MHP and Consolidated Independent. His appointment will begin February 1.
Kobalt Neighbouring Rights is the other new venture; it will adhere to artists and producers directly and cover royalty collection, pipeline advances to qualifying clients and administration services.
Kobalt has established 21 neighbouring rights society relationships and clients’ registrations and collections are now in process. KNRL plan to issue clients’ first payments on January 31.
Kobalt's vast range of new contacts teamed with their unique approach where clients will experience a 25% uplift in neighbouring rights collections is picked to set a new standard for technology platforms.
