In a move signalling their expansion beyond music publishing, multinational music group Kobalt have announced the Australian launch of their Label Services division.
Heading up the new operation as Manager of Label Services will be experienced local executive Ben Godding, who in the past has held marketing and management roles at Universal Music Australia and EMI UK and EMI Australia and most recently at Original Music, an independent management and marketing company.
Established as an alternative to the traditional label model, Kobalt Label Services (KLS) aims to maximise client opportunities and revenues from a wide range of global digital retail, physical retail, audio and video streaming, synch licensing, D2C and social media services and empower recording owners with a full-service solution to releasing and marketing records while maintaining ownership of their masters.
Kobalt Music Australia Managing Director Simon Moor said of the move: “with the establishment of Kobalt Label Services in Australia and New Zealand and the appointment of Ben Godding, Kobalt continues to create a better alternative for artists, writers and content owners to take control of their future and maximise the value of their music.”
