Bluesfest 2010 report

06 April 2010

Approximately 80,000 green aware music lovers stomped the Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm for the annual Blues and Roots Festival last night, finishing a five-day 21st Anniversary celebration. Stand-outs were said to be The Gipsy Kings, John Butler, Jack Johnson, Crowded House and Sydney’s own The Snowdroppers.

Bluesfest has been coined Australia’s favourite ‘Anti-Pop’ festival with a reputation for being a family event that celebrates different cultures and musical genres. Festival Director Peter Noble said, “We like to think of Bluesfest as the alternative to the alternative…It’s a genuinely aware, globally united, anti-mainstream spirit and attitude – the musicians who play here get it – and the audience definitely gets it.”

The new location proved successful with three times more camping space than Belongil Fields, it is the beginning of a new Bluesfest era. Next year will be the 22nd anniversary of the festival and is promised to be greener, more culturally diverse and more environmentally aware.
