Electro-rock outfit Art vs Science today announced details of their biggest national tour yet.
The 13-date metro and regional jaunt takes place in August and September and celebrates the release of the Sydney trio’s new single, Magic Fountain, which premiered on Triple J this morning. They’ll be supported by fellow Triple J Unearthed winners Tim and Jean plus Jinja Safari (east coast only).
Fountain is the band’s first material since last year’s Gold-certified EP and the first taste of the band’s long-awaited debut album, which has been pushed back until early 2011.
“We just keep coming up with ideas we love and wanting to put them on too,” says co-frontman Dan Mac. “Getting songs out into the real world is like giving birth to an elephant - it's painful, but the sense of accomplishment is second to none.”
The band currently remain independent with distribution through MGM, although manager Claire Collins has recently enlisted Parallel Management (aka Will Larnach-Jones and Chris Reeves, who also manage The Presets, Angie Hart, Beni) to additionally assist with the growing project. “Parallel are providing some of the services that a label traditionally offers: creative support, marketing ideas and implementation, product management,” she told TMN.
Magic Fountain’s video will debut through the band’s official channels (MySpace, Facebook) this Thursday but you can get your first look with our exclusive photo gallery.
The band have launched a dedicated website – magicfountain.net – which enables users to stream the song and play an online game “that involves zapping people and hitting things.”
The single will be released August 6 and comes bundled with several remixes and a live track. Pre-orders available through premium SMS (1995 5235) at $3 a message. Tour tickets go on sale this Thursday (June 24) and all shows are 18+. Get ticket info at artvsscience.net.
