Patch up that pink inflatable boom box and dust off your Aquarium cassettes because Aqua and their bubblegum Europop hits are set to tour Australia this March.
The original line-up of Lene Nystrøm and René Dif (vocals), Søren Rasted (keys) and Claus Norreen (guitar) will take in all the major cities as well as Gold Coast and Fremantle from March 8 – 18
The Danish quartet will perform the hits that generated in excess of 33 million in single and album sales after breaking worldwide in 1997 with third single Barbie Girl.
A reunion tour from 2007 to 2010 reinvigorated the group’s passion for sexual ambiguity and lyrics so catchy they’re remembered verbatim decades on. Aqua released third album Megalomania in September last year which was certified Gold and reached #2 in Denmark.
Unrelated Aqua fact: In 2002 during a series of lawsuits between Mattel and MCA Records over Aqua track Barbie Girl, US Supreme Court Judge Alex Kozinski concluded his dismissal with: "The parties are advised to chill."
Live dates in both Sydney and Melbourne have sold out but party-goers are advised to chill; extra shows have just been announced.
