HeatWave flub festival

23 January 2012

by Poppy Reid

New event HeatWave Music Festival have offered one disappointment after another with promoters of the hip hop event announcing they failed to obtain a liquor license for the Melbourne leg yesterday.

Organisers announced the ‘alcohol free’ change up on their Facebook just before gates at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl opened.

Originating in South Australia last year, the 2012 edition was already under attack from both fans and the NSW Department of Fair Trading after headliners D12 missed their flight to Australia, resulting in their absence for three of the six festival dates and Perth’s event being cancelled altogether.

MusicFeeds reported on January 17 that unhappy ticket holders would be placated when Fair Trading forced promoters to offer refunds and demanded the festival stop using the rap collective in their promotional material. Any attendees who experience problems gaining a refund can issue a complaint at www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au or email tickets@heatwavefestival.com with any enquiries/questions.

Alternatively, attendees can vent their frustrations at HeatWave = Biggest Music Festival Failure ever, a Facebook page dedicated to arguably one of the most unsuccessful festivals since the Soundwave Revolution debacle or Rewind Festival's cancellation.
