The line-up rumours for Splendour In The Grass 2012 are beginning to develop some backbone, as The Shins hinted earlier today that the Byron Bay-based festival is “penciled in” their schedule.
Speaking to The Vine about the possibility of an Australian tour this year, the indie band’s front man James Mercer said: “I know there was talk about Splendour in the Grass, but that’s like, pencilled into my calendar. It’s not official. So it would be trying to be something together around there, I suppose.”
The Shins are currently readying themselves for the release of their new and fourth album in mid-March. Entitled Port Of Morrow, the full-length LP features pop behemoth Simply Song, which has already received significant airplay on our shores.
The highly anticipated lineup for the annual Splendour In The Grass festival to be held on July 27 – 29 is yet to be revealed, but whilst rumours of Radiohead and The Stone Roses have been officially dismissed, others like Band Of Skulls and now The Shins are under negotiation and still very much a possibility.
