In news that even took Austereo’s own publicists by surprise, SAFM’s Amber Petty announced yesterday she'll be leaving the Adelaide breakfast show in two weeks.
After three years in the role, Petty has chosen to farewell co-hosts Rabbit and Cosi and devote herself full-time to a new personal project; a health and wellness website called Not Just For Hippies.
Petty told TMN that while she only let her bosses know two days ago, she's been thinking contemplating leaving since the start of the year: “I was a little less enthusiastic coming back to the show this year and it's really been between then and now that there's been this little voice in my head saying 'It's time to move on'.
"I love this place, but I'm not learning things I want to learn anymore and my passion's really become this website."
She will finish up on Friday June 11. A replacement has been chosen but Petty declined to reveal who it was. Check out the magazine this Monday for more on her departure.
