KOFM inches ahead in Newcastle survey

30 July 2010

Sibling rivalry continues to heat up in the Newcastle radio market with survey results released today seeing KOFM take the lead from sister station NXFM as outright leader.

The second survey of the year showed KO jump 0.9 points overall to 18.0 from 17.1 while NX dropped a 1.7 down to 17.3. 2HD came in third overall (up 1.2 to 13.5), while ABC1223 claimed fourth (with 12.7 down 0.5 from last survey). NEWFM followed with 7.4 (down 0.3), overtaking Triple J with 6.5 overall (dropping 1.6 points from 8.1).

KO’s conquest were driven by big gains in breakfast, which saw its David and Tanya show jump 3.3 points to a formidable 19.8 and take first place. That came at the expense of NX’s Steve and Kim dropping 0.9 to 18.6. That lead continued across the daytime ratings, although NX fought back across Drive, up 1.6 to a massive 29.4 while KO plunging 3.7 points to 13.9.

Meanwhile, both NX and KO dropped considerably at nights (down 5.2 and 3.6 respectively), owned by 2HD which climbed a savage 5.6 share points.
