Nova have announced the ten finalists for their annual I Am With The Band competition. They are: Soapbox Summer, The Written Crusade, My Lasting Reply, Our Best Laid Plans, Nine Sons of Dan, Finabah, Delamare, Saving Savanah, Beside Lights and Cupidfalls.
In partnership with sponsor National Drugs Campaign, the winning band will receive $10,000 cash, as well as mentoring and rehearsal session and studio time with Sony Music Entertainment, get airplay on Nova and perform with Logitech Rock the Schools tour.
The competition will be decided by a public vote, with Nova encouraging voters to register by giving them the chance to win $5000. Voting closes on Wednesday May 18 with the winner announced on Friday May 20.
Last year's winners, Adelaide band The Touch said “We’re very thankful for the opportunity that Nova gave us, you don’t often get a launch-pad into the general public like that so we’re stoked…We’ll now get the exposure that we want and it gives us a little bit more freedom to do what we want music wise.”
Toni Pipicelli, Nova’s Group Music Director comments “I Am With The Band helps highlight that you don’t need to be signed to a major record company to be heard. These bands are performing locally and showing Australia every day how talented hey are and that they love music.”
