Commercial radio in Perth has recorded the strongest advertising revenue growth for the financial year, according to figures released today by industry body, Commercial Radio Australia.

Perth’s revenue of $91.55 million brings the market up 8.39% compared to the previous financial year.

The commercial radio industry as a whole has recorded advertising revenue of 5.65 per cent in metropolitan areas, to a total of $683.90 million. The figured, sourced by Deloitte, showed all metropolitan markets recorded advertising growth for the financial year ended June 2011.

Brisbane recorded a total of $110 million, up 6.48 per cent; Sydney recorded a growth of 5.92 percent to a total of $214.47 million; Adelaide’s growth of $63.38 million brought them up 2.83 percent and Melbourne grew 4.64 percent to $204.48 million.

Chief executive officer of Commercial Radio Australia, Joan Warner said: “The radio industry has worked hard to promote the strengths of radio for advertisers with the industry’s ongoing brand campaign and offers cross platform opportunities on radio, online and now also on digital radio.”

Although advertising continues to be fast to market and cost effective for those advertising the total revenue for June this year is slightly down from June 2010 by -1.18 per cent.
