MCM Media launches Take 40 App

22 July 2011

by Poppy Reid

Entertainment and production company MCM Media have launched Australia’s first dedicated music video app with Take 40 Australia.

The free-to-download Take 40 iPhone App offers over 10,000 music videos including instant notification of all new releases and a weekly countdown of Australia’s most popular clips. Users have access to celebrity interviews, live content from Take 40 Live Lounge and the option of creating a customised video playlist.

Although the app is free for users, artists will be remunerated through an ad-funded model where advertisers can utilise MCM Media’s Digital Entertainment Network (DEN) for online and mobile video ad campaigns.

Andrew Cordwell, Commercial Director Digital at MCM Media said: “The explosion of smartphones represents a huge opportunity for marketers and I’m thrilled to have MCM Media breaking new ground in mobile advertising solutions,” said Cordwell. “What’s more, mobile is now becoming an increasingly important way for music labels to promote their acts.

“The app would not be a reality without our partnership with the four major record labels – Universal Music, Sony Music, Warner Music and EMI.” he added.
