Just when you thought dubstep was a passing fad (surprisingly no dubstep songs managed to make it into the Top 20 of Triple J’s Hottest 100), it’s getting the Hollywood makeover it deserves with the film Snap.
Snap will star Nikki Reed, of Twilight and Thirteen fame, and Jake Hoffman, Dustin Hoffman’s son. According to Cinemablend, the film is described as a physiological thriller set in the world of underground dubstep. Jake plays a talented but introverted musician, “dubstepper” who strikes up a romance with a social worker (Nikki Reed). Apparently, “his inner demons spiral out of control when the romance fizzles, with shocking and tragic results.” And wobble. Lots of wobble.
Production starts on March 26, with the producers hoping to get it to the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.
