Kevin Mitchell should have known better. Despite his modest expectations being consistently surpassed throughout Jebediah’s career, he assumed that, after a five year break, the band would be able to trickle back into the public consciousness. First mainstream single, She’s Like A Comet, shot onto radio playlists nationwide, seeing the Jebs end up on Triple M, the TODAY Network, NOVA and other locations foreign to the band, effectively kyboshing plans for a slow slide back onto the scene.
“It’s blown me away,” Mitchell exclaims. “Certainly we never, ever expected that kind of response, so it’s really exciting, but it is also scaring the shit out of us as well because we just weren't really prepared for it, now we are suddenly scrambling together, going 'Oh, shit!'"

Amongst the scrambling are plans for a national tour in March and April, with an eye on the festival circuit later in the year. The band’s fifth studio album Kosciuszko is slated for release in mid-April, and marks the culmination of five years of sporadic recording and writing. There is a lot to do in order to promote it, and the single’s wide acceptance has been a welcome hindrance.
“It’s been such a long time since we’ve been out there, so we are just gauging it at the moment. We have to crank up the machine all over again; we have a vague idea of where we are at, but there’s a little bit of ‘wait and see’ about it.”
