Rope, the first single from Wasting Light
Ever since news started leaking about the upcoming Foo Fighters album, the Internet has been in a spin. Late last year it was reported that Butch Vig and Novoselic were involved in the record, leading to instant Nevermind-reunion chatter.
A few weeks ago, a shot-on-VHS video for the track White Limo was released, starring Motorhead’s own Lemmy Kilmister, and featuring the entire band...and Dave Grohl's wife Jordyn. A day later the title, lead single name and album title, Wasting Light, was released.
The hilarious White Limo videoWasting Light was produced by Butch Vig (Nevermind), mixed by Alan Moulder (Loveless), and recorded to tape in Grohl's garage. The album features guest spots by Husker Du's Bob Mould on the track Dear Rosemary, and former Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic (I Should Have Known).
The band have also announced plans to release a career-spanning feature length documentary, moving from the cassette demos Grohl recorded and released during his time in Nirvana-land, through to his world-beating success with the Foo Fighters and return to basics with the home recording of Wasting Light. Directed by Academy Award winner James Moll (The Last Days, Running The Sahara), the film is sure to be an indepth look at one of the biggest bands on the planet.
No word on the release date for the film, but the album's tracklisting below can tide you over 'til the Foo fighters hit eleven once more.
