This is the fifth in a series of seven films commissioned by Massive Attack to accompany their latest album Heligoland. They commissioned some of the most talented independent film directors around to choose a song from the album and produce a short film on their chosen subject to accompany it. In this particular screening, Saturday Come Slow begins with a poem spoken by Guantanamo Bay detainee Ruhal Ahmed. This is followed by a lecture on the powers of sound in a sound-proof room (Ahmed was interrogated using brutally loud heavy metal music). The video almost films sound in a weird and wonderful way using just a speaker and sand. Ahmed gives a heart wrenching anecdote on his interrogation, beating and isolation at Guantanamo Bay.
