Forty years and twenty-five Golden Guitars since his performance of Old Man Emu on television, country singer/songwriter John Williamson has finally been inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame. Delivering an extensive list of classic Australian country tracks from True Blue to Australia Is Another Word For Free, Williamson has been an integral figure in the country music scene and the wider Australian cultural landscape. He's the epitome of outback culture and a self-proclaimed songwriter for “battlers out there forging a living against the odds.”
In an exclusive interview, the country star recalls the first time he ever heard Old Man Emu on the radio, why the ARIA Hall of Fame finally makes him feel legitimate and "the greatest award of all" - fans buying his music.
